There is a continuous increase in population with time and therefore, to fulfil the requirement of water, huge dams are being constructed on the rivers.

E.g.

Dams have been constructed on the Mahi river in Banswara and Chambal river in Kota.

These dams help in generating electricity from water and are also the source of drinking water and irrigation.
