In a certain college, 4% of boys and 1% of girls are taller than 1.75 metres. Furthermore, 60% of the students are girls. If a student is selected at random and is taller than 1.75 metres, what is the probability that the selected student is a girl?

Best answer

Consider T as the students taller than 1.75m

B as the boys in class and G as the girls in class

Here we should determine

P (G/T) – probability that selected taller is a girl

So we get

= 60/220

= 3/11

Hence, the probability of selected taller student is a girl is 3/11.
