(i) What is the difference between foot loose and ‘key’ industries?

(i) A footloose industry is an industry which can be located anywhere like electronics, garments manufacturing, etc. Proximity to the location of raw material is not required. A key industry is one that can be located in the areas of location of raw materials like iron and steel. 

A key industry is the mother of all the industries. 

(ii) Footloose industry : e.g. computer chips 

industry. Key Industry : e.g. Iron and steel industry.
