Two bodies A and B of equal masses are kept at heights of h and 2h respectively. What will be the ratio of their potential energies?

Let the masses of A and B = m 

Height of A = h 

Height of B = 2h 

Potential energy for body A, PEA = mgh 

Potential energy for body B, PEB = mg2h 

Ratio = PEA : PEB = (mgh)/(mg2h) = ½
