Let cost of one book is ₹x

cost of 5 books = ₹5x

cost of 7 books = ₹1x

According to question,

5x = 7x – 14

⇒ 5x – 7x = -14

⇒ -2x = -14

⇒ 2x = 14

⇒ x = 7

∴ Cost of one book ₹7.
