How do we round off the numbers written on the number line ?

Rounding off the number on number line – 

(i) Unit digit in number 54 = 4 < 5 

Thus, tens digit in number 54 = 50 

Unit digit in 66 = 6 > 5 

Thus, tens digit = 6 + 1 = 7

Thus, approximate value of tens is 66 = 70 

(ii) Unit digit in number 278 = 8 > 5 

Tens digit = 7 + 1 = 8 

Thus, approximate value of tens in 278 = 280 

Unit digit in number 283 = 3 < 5

Thus, approximate value of tens in 283 = 280
