Solving by distribution method of multiplication on addition

(i) 62 × 48 = 62 × (40 + 8) = 62 × 40 + 62 × 8 = 2480 + 496 = 2976

(ii) 40 × 72 = 40 × (70 + 2) = 40 × 70 + 40 × 2 = 2800 + 80 = 2880
