A solution of copper sulphate was kept in an iron pot. After few days, the iron pot was found to have a number of holes in it. Explain the reaction with the help of a chemical equation.

Iron is more reactive than copper. Iron displaces copper from copper sulphate solution and forms iron sulphate, hence holes appear on the pot equation :

Fe+CuSO4(aq)  FeSO4(aq)+Cu
