Best answer

i. (5x2 – 2y + 9) - (3x2 + 5y – 7)

= 5x2 – 2y + 9 – 3x2 – 5y + 1

= 5x2 – 3x2 – 2y – 5y + 9 + 7

= 2x2 – 1y + 16

ii. (2x2 + 3x + 5) - (x2 – 2x + 3)

= 2x2 + 3x + 5 – x2 + 2x – 3

= 2x2 – x2 + 3x + 2x + 5 – 3

= x2 + 5x + 2
