Two characteristics of monopoly:
1. Single Seller and Many buyers: In the monopoly market, the single fim consists the whole industry. The supply made by this firm means the supply of the whole industry. But, there are many buyers of the product sold in the market.
2. Types of the product: The products may be homogeneous or non homogeneous but no close substitutes are available in the market.
