Abscissa means x-axis (points on xx’ or x-axis) and ordinate means y-axis (points on yy’ or y-axis)

(i) If ordinate is 5 and abscissa is – 3

=> It represents the point (- 3, 5)

=> Which is in II quadrant.

(ii) If abscissa is -5 and ordinate is – 3

=> It represents the point (-5, – 3) = III quadrant.

(iii) If abscissa is – 5 and ordinate is 3

=> It represents the point (- 5, 3) = II quadrant.
