Best answer

i. 6x – 1 = 3x + 8

∴ 6x - 3x = 8 + 1

∴ 3x = 9

∴ x = 9/3

∴ x = 3

ii. 2(x - 4) = 4x + 2

∴ 2x - 8 = 4x + 2

∴ (-8 - 2) = 4x - 2x

∴ (-10) = 2x

∴ x = (-10/2)

∴ x = -5

iii. 5(x + 1) = 74

∴ 5x + 5 = 74

∴ 5x = 74 - 5

∴ 5x = 69

∴ x = 69/5
