A TV transmitting antenna is 125 m tall. How much service area can this transmitting antenna cover, if the receiving antenna is at the ground level? Radius of earth = 6400 km.

hT = 125 m and R = 6400 x 103

d = \(\sqrt{2h_TR}\) =\(\sqrt{2h_TR}\) = 40 x 103 m = 40 km 

Area covered A = πd2 = 3.14 x (40)2 = 5024 km2
