Solve: dy/dx = cos(x + y) + sin (x + y). [Hint: Substitute x + y = z]

dy/dx = cos(x + y) + sin (x + y)

Using the hint given and substituting x + y = z

We know that cos 2z = 2 cos2z – 1

and sin 2z = 2 sin z cos z

Let 1 +  tan z/2 = t hence differentiating with respect to z
