\(\bullet\)  The electron in an atom can be characterized by a set of four quantum numbers, namely principal quantum number (n), azimuthal quantum number (l), magnetic quantum number (m) and spin quantum number (s).

\(\bullet\)  When Schrodinger equation is solved for a wave function T, the solution contains the first three quantum numbers n, l and m.

\(\bullet\)  The fourth quantum number arises due to the spinning of the electron about its own axis.

Quantum numbers are specific numbers which gives us information about an electron's position much like your home address has various components, the electron's location be told by 4 quantum numbers ,i.e., (a) Principle Quantum number tells us about shell in which electron is present.(b) Azimuthal quantum number tells us about subshell- s, p ,d ,f in which electron is present.(c)Magnetic quantum number  tells us about the orbital of the subshell in which electron is located, e.g., px, py,dxy,dyz e.t.c. (d)Spin quantum number tells us about direction of revolution of electron e.g., +1/2 or -1/2.

Hope I answered your doubt. Thank you.
