In what way can acetic acid be distinguished from acetone?

Add I2 and NaOH. Acetone will give yellow precipitate of iodoform whereas acetic acid does not react to give any yellow precipitate.(or) Add sodium bicarbonate solution Acetone will not react, but acetic acid will give brisk effervescence due to the evolution of CO2.
