Let the age of father = x years

And the age of his son = y years

According to the question,

x = 3 + 3y ...(i)

Three year here,

Father’s age = (x + 3) years

Son’s age = (y + 3) years

According to the question,

(x + 3) = 10 + 2(y + 3)

⇒ x + 3 = 10 + 2y + 6

⇒ x = 2y + 13 …(ii)

From Eq. (i) and (ii), we get

3 + 3y = 13 + 2y

⇒ 3y – 2y = 13 – 3

⇒ y = 10

On putting the value of y = 7 in Eq. (i), we get

x = 3 + 3(10)

⇒ x = 3 + 30

⇒ x = 33

Hence, the age of father is 33 years and the age of his son is 10 years.
