If A and B are two events such that P(A ∪ B) = 5/6, P(A ∩ B) = 1/3, P(\(\bar{B}\)) = 1/2 show that A and B are independent.

P(\(\bar{B}\)) = 1/2 (i.e.,)1 – P(B) = 1/2

∴ A and B are independent
