(a) East German began to construct a wall in 1961 which virtually cut off West Berlin and East Berlin.

(b) It was guarded with watchtowers and other lethal impediments to stop people from the east.

(c) It was symbolic boundary between Communism and Capitalism.

(d) With the fall of the Berlin wall , followed by the collapse of the Soviet Union, the cold war came to an end.
