Iodised salt provides iodine. Iodine is very much essential for the synthesis of thyroxine hormone. This thyroxine hormone is necessary for regulation of the metabolism carbohydrates, proteins and fats and thus balances the growth. If there is lack of iodine in our body enough thyroxine is not synthesised and the person suffers from goitre.

Therefore, it is always advised to take iodised salt.
