Best answer

Mass of earth M = \(\frac{gR^2}{G}\)

g = 9.8 m/s2

R = 6.38 x 106 m

G = 6.673 x 10-11 Nm2 kg-2

∴ M = \(\frac{9.8 \times (6.38 \times 10^6)^2}{6.673 \times 10^{-11}}\)

=\(\frac {9.8 \times 6.38 \times 6.38}{6.673}\) x \(\frac{10^{12}}{10^{-11}}\)

= 5.98 x 1024 kg
