Trapping of sun’s radiation by earth's atmosphere is called greenhouse effect. Carbon dioxide is one of the gases responsible for greenhouse effect. Other gases like methane, nitrous oxide and water vapour also contribute to this effect. Burning of fossil and deforestation leads to an increase in amount of carbon dioxide in air because number of trees which consume carbon dioxide is reduced.
