ATP - Adenosine Tri Phosphate. It is called the energy currency of cell because it helps in the storage of energy in chemical form. ATP is released by a process called as Oxidative Phosphorylation which occurs in mitochondria during respiration. When oxidation of food occurs, it releases energy in the form of ATP.
