The expression relating the distance of the object u, distance of image v and focal length/of a spherical mirror is called the mirror equation. 

It is given as:

Mirror formula: \(\frac{1}{f}\) =\( \frac{1}{u} + \frac{1}{v}\)

Here, f – focal length of spherical mirror; u – distance of the objective; v – distance of the image.
