There are 15 protons and 16 neutrons in the nucleus of an element. Calculate its atomic number and mass number.

Atomic number of the element is 15 as the number of protons in one atom of the element represents the atomic number of that element. 

Mass number of element = number of protons + number of neutrons 

= 15 + 16 

= 31
