Required distance = \(\sqrt{(0-a\,cos 60°)^2+(a\, sin\,60°-0)^2}\)

\(\sqrt{\big(\frac{-a}{2}\big)^2+\big(\frac{\sqrt3a}{2}\big)^2}\)

\(\sqrt{\frac{a^2}{4}+\frac{3a^2}{4}}=\sqrt{\frac{4a^2}{4}}\) = a units.
