An equation equivalent to the quadratic equation x2 - 6x + 5 = 0 is : 

(a) 6x2 - 5x + 1 = 0

(b) x2 - 5x + 6 = 0

(d) |x - 3| = 2

Two equations are equivalent if they have equal roots.

x2 - 6x + 5 = 0 ⇒ (x - 1)(x - 5) = 0 ⇒ x = 1, 5

Now, • 6x2 - 5x + 1 = 0

⇒ x = 5 or x = 1 

∴ Part (d) is equivalent.
