Correct Answer - A
`v_(n) prop 1/n :. KE prop 1/n^(2)` (with positive sign)
Potential energy U is negative and
`U_(n) prop 1/r_(n)implies [U_(n)=(-1)/(4pi in_(0)) (Ze^(2))/r_(n)] prop 1/n^(2)`
[because `r_(n) prop n^(2)`] (with negative sign)
Similar,y total energy `E_(n) prop 1/n^(2)` (with negative sign)
Therefore, when an electron jumps iron some exited state to the ground state, value of n will decrease. therefore, kinetic energy will increase (with positive sign), potential energy and total energy will also increase but with negative sign. thus, finally kinetic energy will increase, while potential and total energyles will decrease.
