We know that the frequency of a note produced by an organ pipe (bugle) depends upon the pressure with which air is forced into it. Therefore, sound of different notes can be produced by forcing air through the mouth piece at different pressures in the bugle. That is why a buglarexpands his mouth unequally, while playing upon the bugle.
