Let the length and breadth of park be ‘a’ and ‘b’ m 

Given, rectangular park of perimeter 80 m and area 400 m². 

⇒ 2(a + b) = 80 

⇒ a + b = 40 

⇒ a = 40 – b 

⇒ a × b = 400 

⇒ (40 – b)b = 400 

⇒ b² – 40b + 400 = 0 

⇒ (b – 20)² = 0 

⇒ b = 20 m 

Thus, it is possible to design a rectangular park with length = 20m and breadth = 20 m
