We know that T2 α R3

where subscripts s and e refer to the satum and earth respectively.

Now \(\frac{T_s}{T_e}\) = 29.5 (given); Re = 1.50 × 108km

Rs = Re × [(29.5)2]1/3 = 1.50 × 108 × (870.25)1/3km

= 1.43 × 109km = 1.43 × 1012m.
