Transmitter: It is a device that process an incoming signal so as to make it suitable for transmission, and then transmits it. Transmitter consists of (1) modulator, (2) amplifier, (3) transmission antenna.

Receiver: A receiver is a device that selects a signal from among all the signals received from a communication channel, recovers the base band signal and delivers it to the user.

The transceiver is an important part of a fiber optics network and is used to convert electrical signals to optical (light) signals and optical signals to electrical signals. It can be plugged into or embedded into another device within a data network that can send and receive a signal.

"The two functions of an antenna are: (1) For transmission of a signal, radiofrequency electrical energy from the transmitter is converted into electromagnetic energy by the antenna and radiated into the surrounding environment (atmosphere, space, water); (2) for reception of a signal, electromagnetic energy impinging .
