यदि a + b + c = 15 व `a^(2) + b^(2) + c^(2) = 83` तब `a^(3) + b^(3) + c^(3) - 3abc` का मान ज्ञात कीजिए ।

हम जानते हैं कि
`a^(3)+b^(3)+c^(3)-3abc=(a+b+c)(a^(2)+b^(2)+c^(2)-ab-bc-ca)`
`= (a+b+c)[(a^(2)+b^(2)+c^(2))-(ab+bc+ca)]" "...(1)`
सर्वप्रथम हम (ab + bc + ca) का मान ज्ञात करेंगे ।
`(a+b+c)^(2)=a^(2)+b^(2)+c^(2)+2ab+2bc+2ca`
`= a^(2)+b^(2)+c^(2)+2(ab+bc+ca)`
`therefore" "(a+b+c)^(2)=83 + 2(ab+bc+ca)" "[because a^(2)+b^(2)+c^(2)=83]`
`(15)^(2) = 83 + 2(ab+bc+ca)" "[because a + b + c = 15]`
`225 = 83 + 2(ab + bc + ca)" "rArr" "142 = 2(ab + bc + ca)`
`rArr" "ab + bc + ca = (142)/(2)`
`therefore" "ab + bc + ca = 71" "...(2)`
समीकरण (2) से मान समीकरण (1) में रखने पर
`a^(3)+b^(3)+c^(3)-3abc=(15)(83-71)=15 xx 12`
`a^(3) + b^(3) + c^(3) - 3abc = 180`
