यदि चंद्रमा का द्रव्यमान `M_(m)` और त्रिज्या `R_(m)` हो, तो चंद्रमा की सतह पर गुरुत्वीय त्वरण का मान
`g_(m)=(GM_(m))/(R_(m)^(2))`
`thereforeM_(m)=(g_(m)R_(m)^(2))/(G)`
दिया गया है कि `g_(m)=1.67m//s^(2), R_(m)=1.74xx10^(6)m` तथा `G=6.67xx10^(-11)N m^(2)//kg^(2)`
`thereforeM_(m)((1.67m//s^(2))(1.74xx10^(6)m)^(2))/((6.67xx10^(-11)Nm^(2)//kg^(2)))=7.58xx10^(22)kg`
अतः, चंद्रमा का द्रव्यमान `=7.58xx10^(22)kg.`
