Answer:

1. Answer: (a) 1 : 2

Explanation: Rs 1 = 100 paise

50 paise : 100 paise or 50 : 100 or 1 : 2.

2. Answer: (c) 1 : 100

Explanation: 1 km = 1000 m

10 m : 1000 m or 10 : 1000 or 1 : 100

3. Answer: (a) True

Explanation: Required Ratio is

= 15/30

= 1/2

 = 1 : 2

4. Answer: (b) 25%

Explanation: 1 : 4

= 1/4 x 100%

= 25%.

5. Answer: (c) 40%

Explanation: 2/5 = 2/5 x 100%

= 40%

6. Answer: (b) 10

Explanation: Out of 100, passed = 25

∴ Out of 40, passed

=  25/100 x 40

= 10.

or

25% of 40

= 25/100 x 40

= 10

7. Answer: (d) 30%

Explanation: Number of students who like to watch T.V.

= 30% of 100

= 30/100 x 100

= 30

8. Answer: (c) 4:1

Explanation: Number of Girls = 50 – 40 = 10

Required ratio = 40 : 10

= 4 : 1

9. Answer: (b) 30

Explanation: Out of 100, good at Science = 40

∴ Out of 50, good at Science

= 40/100 × 50

= 20.

or

Number of students good at science

= 40% of 50

= 40/100 x 50

= 20

∴ Number of students not good at Science

= 50 – 20

= 30

10. Answer: (d) Rs 40

Explanation: Out of Rs 100, money spent = Rs 80

∴ Out of Rs 200, money spent

= 80/100 x 200

= Rs 160

or

Money spent = 80% of Rs 200

= 200 x 80/100

= Rs 60

∴ Money left = Rs 200 – Rs 160

= Rs 40

 11. Answer: (d) Rs 75

Explanation: Discount on Rs 100 = 25

∴ Sale price = 100 – 25

= Rs 75

12. Answer: (b) Rs 375

Explanation: M.P = Rs. 500 Discount = 10%

∴ S.P. = Rs.500 - 10% of Rs.500

= 90% of Rs.500

= 90/100 × Rs.500

= Rs.450

Profit = 20% C.P. \(=\frac{450\times 100}{120}\)

= Rs.375

13. Answer: (c) Rs 2000

Explanation: Loss = C.P. – S.P.

= 10000 – 8000

= Rs 2000

14. Answer: (c) Rs 200

Explanation: Gain = S.P. – C.P.

= 1200 – 1000

= Rs 200

15. Answer: (b) Rs 400

Explanation: 100 – 20 = 80

∵ If C.P. is 100, then S.P. = Rs 80

∴ If C.P. is Rs 500, then S.P.

= 80/100 x 500

= Rs 400

16. Answer: (a) Rs 1200

Explanation: 100 – 40 = 60

∵ If C.P. is Rs 100, then S.P. = Rs 60

∴ If C.P. is Rs 2000, then S.P.

= 60/100 x 2000

= Rs 1200

17. Answer: (b) 2000

Explanation: Given that 60% of x is 1200

\(\frac{60}{100}\times x=1200\)

\(x=1200\times\frac{100}{60}\).

x = 2000

18. Answer: (c) 176

Explanation: List (Marked) Price of the frock = 220, Rate of discount = 20%

Amount of discount \(=\frac{20}{100}\times220\)

= 44

∴ Selling Price of the frock = Marked Price − Discount

= 220−44

= 176

19. Answer: (b) 4%

Explanation: Discount = \(\%\frac{15,000-14,400}{15,000}\times100\)

= 4%

20. Answer: (a) 29,484

Explanation: Let the rate of popukation be p,q,r respectively.

Therefore, population after 3 years is

\(=p(1+\frac{p}{100})(1+\frac{q}{100})\)\((1+\frac{r}{100})\)

 \(=2500\times(1+\frac{4}{100})(1+\frac{5}{100})\)\((1+\frac{8}{100})\)

\(=25000\times\frac{26}{25}\times\frac{21}{20}\times\frac{27}{25}\)

= 29,484

21. Answer: (a) 5%

Explanation: It is given that simple interest in 2 years = Rs.400

⇒  Simple interest for 1 year = Rs.200

⇒  Hence, Compound interest for 1 year = Rs.200

⇒  Given compound interest for 2 years = Rs. 410

∴   Compound interest for 2 years = Compound interest 1st year + Compound interest 2nd year

⇒  Compound interest for 2nd year = Rs.410 - Rs.200 = Rs.210

⇒  That is interest on Rs.200 for 1 year = Rs.210-Rs.200 = Rs.10

\(I=\frac{P\times T\times R}{100}\)

\(10=\frac{200\times1\times R}{100}\)

2R = 10

 R = 5%

22. Answer: (a) Rs. 800

Explanation: A= Rs. 968,T =2 years, R =10%,P=?

\(A=P(1+\frac{R}{100}t)\)

\(A=P(1+\frac{R}{100})^n\)

\(968=P(1+\frac{10}{100})^2\)

\(968=P(\frac{11}{10})^2\)

\(P=\frac{968\times10\times10}{11\times11}\)

P = Rs. 800

23. Answer: (b) 1:3

Explanation: Speed of cycle/Speed of scooter

= 12/36

= 1/3

= 1:3

24. Answer: (b) Rs. 3000

Explanation: 10% VAT on Rs.100 will make it Rs.110

So, for price including VAT Rs.110, the original price is Rs.100

Then, Price including VAT Rs. 3300, the original price

= Rs. \((\frac{100}{110}\times 3300)\)

= Rs. 3000.

25. Answer: (c) 10

Explanation: Given, Amount = Rs. 220, Principle = Rs. 200, Time =1 year

1 year simple interest and compound interest are equal.

So Interest

=220−200

= Rs. 20

S. I = \(\frac{PRT}{100}\)

\(R=\frac{S.I\times100}{P\times T}\)

\(R=\frac{20\times100}{200\times1}\)

R = 10%
