Redraw the circuit of `Q.12`, putting in an ammeter to measure the current through the resistors and a voltmeter to measure the voltage across the `12 ohm` resistor. What would be the readings in the ammeter and the voltmeter ?

The circuit diagram of `Q.12` with an ammeter `A` and a voltmeter `V` across the `12 Omega` resistor is shown in (Fig. 3.33).
Since all the three resistances are in series.
total resistance in the circuit, `R = 5 Omega + 8 Omega + 12 Omega = 12 Omega`
current in the circuit, `I = ("potential difference")/("total resistance") = (6 V)/(25 Omega) = 0.24 A`
potential diference across 12 ohm resistor, i.e., V = current `xx` resistance `= (0.24 A)(12 Omega) = 2.88 V`
