Whater and minerals are transpoted through xylem cells from soil to the leves. The xylem cells of roots stem and leaves are interconnected to from a conducting channel that reaches all parts of the plant. The root cells take ions form the soil. This creates a differrnce between the concentration of ions of roots and soil. Therefore there is a steady movement of water into xylem. An osmotic pressur is formed and water and minerals and transported from one cell to the other cell due to osmosis. The continuous loss of water takes place due to transpiration. Brcause of transpiration, a suction pressure is created as a result of which water is forced into the xylem cells of roots. The effect of root pressure from transportation in plants in more important n night while during day time transpiration pull becomes the major driving force.
