मान लीजिए , ` a = 20 , d_(i) = (x_(i)-20)/h ` जहाँ h = 8

समांतर माध्य , `barx = a +(sum f_(i)d_(i)xxh)/(sum f_(i)) `
` = 20 + (5xx 8)/40 = 21`
अब माध्य विचलन ` = (sum f_(i) |x_(i)-barx|)/(sum f_(i)) = (352)/40 = 8.8`.
