An object is placed at a distance of 40 cm from a convex mirror fo focal length 40cm. Find image position and its magnification.Also ,draw its ray diagram.

Substituting ,u=-40cm and `f=+40cm` in the mirror formula `
`(1/v)+(1/u)=(1/f)`, we have
`(1/v)+(1/-40)=(1/+40)`,
we get, `v= +20 cm`
Magnification , `m=-(v/u)=-(+20)/(-40)=+(1/2)`
Magnification is `+(1/2)`, which implies that image is erect, virtual and half in size. Ray diagram is as shown Below,
