Element Compound
1. An element consists of only one kind of substance. 1. A compound is formed from two or more elements.
2. An element cannot be further divided into simpler substances by any physical or chemical means.
E.g. iron, copper, oxygen
2. A compound can be further divided into simple substances by chemical means.
E.g. common salt, sugar, water.
