Explain with chemical reactions, why is zinc oxide amphoteric in nature ?

Amphoteric oxides are those oxides which reacts with both acids and alkalis to give salt and water.
With acid :
`ZnO+2HCI to ZnCI_(2)+H_(2)O`
with base :
`ZnO+2NaOH to Na_(2)ZnO_(2) +H_(2)O`
Thus, the above two reaction shows the amphoteric nature of zinc-oxide.
