(i) Protandry:
1) In plants with both male and female part self pollination may occur.
2) If both parts do not mature at one time then self pollination does not occur.
3) In protandry male part matures (release of pollen grains) before female part is ready to be receptive. This avoids self pollination.
Example: Sunflower.
