`E_(M^(3+)//M^(2+)Cr` के लिए सर्वाधिक ऋणात्मक है । यह दर्शाता है कि `Cr^(3+)` में `Cr^(2+)` परिवर्तित होने की क्षमता बहुत कम होती है । इसके विपरीत , `Cr^(2+)` में `Cr^(3+)` परिवर्तित होने की अधिकतम क्षमता होगी । अतः Cr के लिए `+2` से `+3` ऑक्सीकरण अवस्था परिवर्तन सर्वाधिक सुगमता से होगा ।
