Given :

Mass of oxygen (reactant) = 32 g,

Mass of carbon monoxide (product) = 56 g

To find :

Mass of oxygen (reactant)

Calculation :

12 g of carbon combine with 16 g oxygen to form 28 g of carbon monoxide as follows :

Hence,

(2 × 12 = 24 g) of carbon will combine with (2 × 16 = 32 g) of oxygen to give (2 × 28 = 56 g) carbon monoxide.

∴ Mass of carbon used = 24 g
