(i) Benzene reacts with acetyl chloride in the presence of anhydrous AlCl₃ to give acetophenone.

(ii) Benzene reacts with conc. HNO₃ in the presence of conc. H₂SO₄ to give nitrobenzene which further reacts with chlorine in the presence of anhydrous AlCl₃ to give m-nitro chlorobenzene.
