Given :

Mass of substance = 2g,

mass of water = 18g

To find :

Mass % of solute

Formula :

Mass percent = \(\frac{Mass\,of\,Solute}{Mass\,of\,Solution}\) x 100

Calculation :

Mass percent of A = \(\frac{Mass\,of\,A}{Mass\,of\,solution}\) x 100

\(\frac{2g}{2g\,of\,A+18g\,of\,water}\) x 100

\(\frac{2g}{20g}\) x 100

= 10% w/w

Mass percent of A = 10% w/w
