Correct Answer - Option 2 : Appreciating

Language is a symbolic, rule-governed system, shared by a group of people to express their thoughts and feelings. It provides a bank of memories and symbols inherited from one's fellow speakers and created in one's own lifetime.

  • Language is also the medium through which most knowledge is constructed, hence they are closely tied to the thoughts and identity of the individual.

  • When someone says "You did a good job". It means that he is appreciating you.
  • This sentence is usually used to make the person more confident in his work.
  • Also, it can be seen as the language which we use to show gratefulness to a person.
  • Apologizing is used to show regret mainly and to say sorry for something done which is wrong or for hurting someone's sentiments. For example, I want to apologize for hurting you, or I'm sorry.
  • Enquiring is used to do an inquiry about a person, thing, or phenomenon. For example, why it is not raining here?
  • Greeting someone includes normal gestures or sentences to show friendly behavior. For example, Hi, Hello, Good Morning, etc.

Hence, it is clear that appreciating is the correct answer.
