Correct Answer - Option 4 : 75000

Given:

Male : Female = 7 ∶ 8

The number of female adult = 34000

Concept used:

Total Male population = Male adult + Children (Male)

Total Female population = Female adult + Children (Female)

Calculation:

Let the total population of Male and Female be 700 units and 800 units respectively.

The number of female children is 15% of the total female population.

Now, the female adult is 85% of the total female population.

⇒ 85% of 800 units

⇒ 680 unit      ----(1)

According to the question,

⇒ 680 units = 34000

⇒ 1 unit = 50      ----(2)

Number female in the city,

⇒ 800 units = 40000

Number of Male in the city,

⇒ 700 units = 35000      ----(3)

Now, the total population of the city

⇒ Total Male + Total Female

⇒ 35000 + 40000

⇒ 75000

∴ The total population of the city is 75000.
