DIRECTIONS for the question: The question below consist of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and mark.

A and B started a business. A invested Rs. X and B invested Rs. 1.5X. Six months after the start of business, C joined them with an investment of Rs. 5000. If the total annual profit is Rs. 6000, what is A's share of the same?

I. C's share of the total annual profit is Rs. 2000.

II. X = 2000
1. The data in both the statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.
2. The data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
3. The data in both the statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
4. The data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.

Correct Answer - Option 2 : The data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.

Calculation:

⇒ The ratio of the profit of the A, B and C = 12X ∶ 1.5X × 12 ∶ 6 × 5000

⇒ The ratio of their profit = 2X ∶ 3X ∶ 5000

⇒ The total annual profit = 6000

From statement l

⇒ C's share of total annual profit is 2000

⇒ C's profit share = 2000 = {(5000)/(2X + 3X + 5000)} × 6000

⇒ X = 2000

⇒ A's profit share = {(2X)/(2X + 3X + 5000)} × 6000 = 1600

⇒ Hence we can determine the answer from statement l

From statement ll

⇒ X = 2000

⇒ A's profit share =

⇒ Hence, we can determine the answer with alone statement ll

∴ The required result will be "The data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question".
