Marble chips or calcium carbonate react with hydrochloric acid as :

CaCO3 + 2HCl  CaCl2, + H2O + CO2

The reaction is carried out twice and following graphs were obtained :

Which of the following statements is incorrect? 

(A) Reaction is faster in experiment ll. 

(B) Marble chips taken in experiment ll are smaller in size than the marble chips taken in experiment l. 

(C) Same amount of marble chips and hydrochloric acid is used for both the experiments.

Correct option (D) None of these  

Explanation:

Graph ll is steeper than graph I which shows that reaction is faster in experiment ll. Both graphs level off at the same value which shows that same amount of marble chips and hydrochloric acid is used for both experiments and marble chips in experiment ll must have been of smaller size as the reaction is faster.
